Who Am I ???
Luke, Sam and I were driving in the car and we started discussing animals that drink milk. We had also been discussing animals that lay eggs. I told Sam people drink milk, but don't lay eggs because we are mammals, just like pigs, cows, dogs, etc. Sam of coure had to argue this because people are not the same as those other animals. I was trying to convince him that we are still all mammals, when Luke spoke up and cleared up everything. Luke said, "I am not a mammal, I am a Child of God." Thanks Luke for keeping things in perspective.

MOAB !!!
Our family headed out to Moab to celebrate Sam's graduation. We were planning on lots of fun in the Moab sun. However, Spring 2011 has been pretty soggy and cold, and this weekend wasn't much of an exception. We did have some rain, but we still had lots of fun hiking, swimming, and just being on vacation.
Sam was out to prove once again that he is "The best hiker in the world". We had several votes, and after the final vote, I think he managed to pull off another victory in the hiking department.

Kindergarten Graduation for the class of 2023 (yep, that is Sam)
Sam graduated from Kindergarten on May 19th. I am so proud of him for learning so much this year and for always being true to who he really is. At the beginning of the school year I felt I was giving a part of him away. Lucky for us, he couldn't have been in better hands than his wonderful teacher Mrs. Tischner. She helped make this year really great. I was worried Sam would change from the unique little character he is under the influence of so many new people. I didn't want him to be afraid to be himself. Well, I should have never worried. Here are a few of the memorable Samism throughout the year.
Once again, he said it best.
- When some kids were teasing him and asking why he would sit by a girl, he boldly said, "Because she is my friend and I like her."
- all year long he has said with confidence, "you know, I am the smartest kid in my class".
- When asked what he would do if he were the President of the United States, he wrote, "I wood folo the profet"
- After a little misunderstanding resulting in Dad accidentally destroying his rock collection in the dirt pile in the back yard. Sam sat his dad down in Sam's room for a talk and told him, "Dad you should never be aftraid to do what is right."
Once again, he said it best.
I'm making a comeback
So, it has been a really long time since my last post. So much has happened, that I get overwhelmed trying to even think about catching up. So, this is my new plan. This is my fresh start. I don't want any more time to go by without trying to capture a little glimpse of it all. I know I can never remember all the amazing things Sam and Luke say and do without a little help, and I want them to be able to see what they were like when they were growing up. Here goes my new committement to "Enjoying the Journey"!

Still the Man
Tonight Sam was supposed to be getting his PJ's on. After a little while he comes out wearing one of Luke's shirts.
Dave: Hey Sam, whose shirt are you wearing?
Sam: Lukey's.
Dave: Why are you wearing Luke's shirt?
Sam: So you can see my muscles better.
Of Course. Why did we even need to ask.
Later I read his some stories and we were cuddling in his bed.
Kate: Sam, are you ready to say your prayers?
Sam: No, I'm not.
Kate: Why not?
Sam: Welll........Mom, I just don't like prayers as much as you do.
Kate: Hmmmm, that's too bad because I just love saying prayers and talking to Heavenly Father.
Sam: But Mom, one time when I wasn't even folding my arms, or closing my eyes, Jesus just came down and talked to me. So I just don't really need prayers.
Kate: Well, what did Jesus have to say to you?
Sam: I don't really remember. It was a long time ago, but I just don't need prayer to talk to Jesus. I just hear him.
Kate: Well, maybe Jesus still needs you to say prayer, so let's just do it.
So, if anyone ever has any questions that need answering, just ask Sam. You never know what he will say when you ask him WHY.
