Kindergarten Graduation for the class of 2023 (yep, that is Sam)

Sam graduated from Kindergarten on May 19th.  I am so proud of him for learning so much this year and for always being true to who he really is.  At the beginning of the school year I felt I was giving a part of him away.  Lucky for us, he couldn't have been in better hands than his wonderful teacher Mrs. Tischner.  She helped make this year really great.  I was worried Sam would change from the unique little character he is under the influence of so many new people.  I didn't want him to be afraid to be himself.  Well, I should have never worried.  Here are a few of the memorable Samism throughout the year.

  • When some kids were teasing him and asking why he would sit by a girl, he boldly said, "Because she is my friend and I like her."
  • all year long he has said with confidence, "you know, I am the smartest kid in my class".
  • When asked what he would do if he were the President of the United States, he wrote, "I wood folo the profet"
  • After a little misunderstanding resulting in Dad accidentally destroying his rock collection in the dirt pile in the back yard.  Sam sat his dad down in Sam's room for a talk and told him, "Dad you should never be aftraid to do what is right."
Sam learned so much this year.  He can read, write, do math, and so much more.  He has grown in so many ways.  I was amazed when I compared his first of the year assessment with his end of year assessment.  But I think what I loved most at the end of year assessment is a statement that told me that even though he has changed, he is still the same Sam that I have always loved.  When the teacher asked him to write a sentence, he wrote, "I am Sam.  Sam the Man."

Once again, he said it best.
